Housing at Helios looks different than anywhere else you have been. Not because the beds are fancy or the kitchens gourmet. Because the men living here actually want to be here and actually want to stay sober.

We offer sober living for men in Spokane, WA that prioritizes accountability over comfort and community over isolation. Every house rule exists to protect your recovery not control your life. When you understand that, the structure starts feeling like freedom instead of restriction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Real questions about living at Helios. The rules exist to protect you. Here’s what that looks like day to day.

Yes — we understand how important family is, especially your relationship with your children. As a single father myself, I know how vital that bond is during recovery. Residents are allowed to have visits from their children in approved and appropriate settings.

No smoking or vaping at all. Not inside. Not outside. Not in the yard. Not down the street. This is a nicotine free environment because recovery works better when your lungs and brain aren't hooked on anything. We can help with cessation resources if needed.

Only with advance approval from the Helios Housing director AND your CCO if you are on supervision. This isn't automatic. We need to know where you will be, who you will be with and how it supports your recovery. Spontaneous overnights don't happen here because recovery doesn't take nights off.

Randomly and frequently. You won't know when they are coming. Could be three times one week. Could be once the next. Consistency matters less than unpredictability. Knowing any day could be test day keeps everyone honest and removes the temptation to calculate risk.

Immediate termination from the program. We are clear about this because your life depends on it. If you use, you are out. No exceptions. No second chances. The rule exists because we've watched too many men die from the one time everyone looked the other way.

Physical violence means immediate termination. No warnings. No investigations. No gray areas. We maintain safety through zero tolerance. If you can't handle conflict with words, you can't stay here. Men learn to communicate or they leave. That's the standard.

Curfew times vary by phase. Chores must be completed daily. Meetings must be attended. Lights out at reasonable hours. Kitchen clean up after yourself. No romantic relationships with other residents. No lending or borrowing money. Respect everyone's space and belongings. The full list comes with your application.

Work schedules are accommodated with advance arrangement. We just need to know your hours and have a way to verify if questions arise. The structure exists to support your recovery not block your employment. Communicate clearly and we will work with you.
